Board Gallery & Known Hardware Revisions

There are several major hardware variants in the MSM8916 wingle ecosystem. Use this gallery to determine your board’s capabilities and recommendations.

UFI003 Dongle (ufi003)

Recommended
Flash TypeeMMC ✅
RAM & Storage1 GB LPDDR3 (or 512 MB) RAM / 8 GB eMMC 5.0 (or 4 GB) Storage
Wi-Fi ChipsetWCN3620 (2.4 GHz 802.11n)
EDL Test PointDual pads adjacent to the SIM slot (pull to GND)

The gold standard for OpenStick hacking. Models equipped with 1GB RAM and 8GB eMMC provide ample headroom for running Docker, Tailscale, Python automation, and lightweight web servers without running out of memory.

UFI001B / UFI001C (ufi001b)

Supported
Flash TypeeMMC ✅
RAM & Storage512 MB LPDDR3 RAM / 4 GB eMMC Storage
Wi-Fi ChipsetWCN3620 (2.4 GHz 802.11n)
EDL Test PointTest pad labeled 'BOOT' or dual unpopulated SMD pads

The most ubiquitous and widely available board family. Solid reliability with mainline Linux, Debian, and OpenWrt. With 512MB RAM, lightweight distributions like postmarketOS or OpenWrt run exceptionally well.

UZ801 Wingle (uz801)

Supported
Flash TypeeMMC ✅
RAM & Storage512 MB LPDDR3 RAM / 4 GB eMMC Storage
Wi-Fi ChipsetWCN3620
EDL Test PointClear circular test points on rear of PCB

Distinguished by clearly marked silkscreen test points and easily accessible UART pads. Popular among hobbyists who enjoy soldering custom serial cables and external antenna connectors.

Zhihe (Generic Wingle with NAND) (zhihe-nand)

Avoid
Flash TypeNAND ⚠️ (NAND has limited mainline support)
RAM & Storage256 MB or 512 MB RAM / 512 MB SPI-NAND / SLC NAND Storage
Wi-Fi ChipsetVaries (WCN3620 or RTL8188)
EDL Test PointShort CLK pin of NAND chip during insertion

Cost-reduced clones that replace high-speed eMMC with cheap NAND flash. Mainline Linux kernel support is extremely limited or unsupported. Not recommended for new purchases.
